The following sections cover the basic aspects of conveyor maintenance for a conveyor system. It lists the tools required to properly maintain the equipment, how to prevent major failures, how to identify the cause of a problem and potential solution, and how to adjust the equipment for proper operation. The main key to good maintenance is a good preventive maintenance procedure. Components and parts are going to wear out or be damaged. If potential problems are identified before actual failures occur, then they can be corrected during slow production periods.Remember, practice safety at all times. Look out for pinch points, electrical and mechanical hazards and laziness. Learn where the electrical disconnects are located and how to lock them out when you need to perform maintenance. Keep your tools clean and in good shape. Follow all manufacturer safety policies and procedures. Wear appropriate safety clothing, eye and ear protection, and use caution when working around all equipment.
